Jimi HendrixIt always puzzled me how critics could compile a Top 10 list of the greatest Guitarists of all time. Is it humanly possible to narrow it down to 10? For one thing, there are so many talented people that have each contributed something unique to the evolution of music. Their works are timeless and know no limits. So, we at Starpulse are going to give you something special. Instead of the ordinary 1-10 ranking system, 1 being the end all be all, we present a series that pays tribute to the greatest guitarists that time will never forget. Here is the first volume. Enjoy.

Les Paul (Somewhere there's music, how faint the tune)

The man had a very big hand in the development of the solid body electric guitar and invented multi track recording. Basically, he is the reason why we have rock and roll, why we have any genre that uses electric guitar (or any king of recording capabilities today. Name me a tune that doesn't use multi tracking). There's a PBS documentary about him that's worth 2 and a half hours of your day. It's got some killer footage and very catchy tunes featuring him and Mary Ford. He's still kicking at 92, and still jamming for audiences (mostly cool jazz cats). Still thinking about a song that hasn't used multi tracking?

Jimi Hendrix (I got a bad, bad feeling, that my baby don't live here no more)

One word: Woodstock. One anthem: The Star Spangled Banner. A new generation of minds, movers and shakers were invented that day. Many thought it was unpatriotic. Jimi responded by simply saying, "I thought it was beautiful." Let's not also forget Red House, Voodoo Child, Wild Thing,…just go into your collection (in which I know Jimi is there, and put him on. I would be naming every single song the man made). There's a whole documentary about him with rare footage, interviews and the whole nine yards. Sit back, relax, and become under his spell as who watch an artist at his craft.

Gary Rossington, Allen Collins, Ed King, and Steve Gaines of Lynyrd Skynyrd (If I leave here tomorrow, Would you still remember me)

Who doesn't like Free Bird? Even if you actually didn't like the song, you would probably have enough sense to keep that piece of information to yourself. This song has one of the best guitar (in this case guitars) solo rock outs ever. The triple lead guitars gave their music something else that no one else had or ever will have. Free Bird is an example of that something; A king of purity that you can easily loose yourself and forget your worries. To that I say God Bless the South.

B.B. King (You know you done me wrong baby, And you'll be sorry someday)

Lucille has been his companion and lady of choice for who know how long. And when she's got the blues, she sure knows how to sing about it. And B.B. King is there to aid her in her tales of woe and heartbreak. You have not doubt that it's the perfect marriage of artist and blues guitar. Just listen to The Thrill Is Gone. (His duets with Eric Clapton are pretty sweet too. No need to fret; Eric will make an appearance on the list as well)

Slash of Guns N' Roses (You can have anything you want, but you better not take it from me)

It's all a complete package: the careless cigarette that hangs for his mouth, the mysterious sunglasses, and that hair! Not to mention that he is one hell of a stage presence and can strum away the best and unapologetic guitar solos ever. Lets take a trip back a few years ago, when MTV was still about the music and the MTV music awards was actually cool. Here's some trivia for you: Who is the only person that can steal the show away from Michael Jackson? Slash. Do your You Tube research and see for yourself. He's absolutely amazing.
