Rod StewartRocker Rod Stewart wowed fans at a recent benefit concert in Los Angeles when he took to the stage to pay tribute to his guitarist Don Kirkpatrick, who is battling cancer.

The Maggie May singer, who has worked with Kirkpatrick since 2000, took the stage at the Key Club halfway through a two-and-a-half-hour show on Friday night to play a handful of numbers, including his smash hit The First Cut Is The Deepest.

All proceeds from the fundraiser gig, which cost $100 to get in to and also saw 1980s pop singer Debbie Gibson perform, will help pay for Kirkpatrick's cancer treatment.
