Director Wes Anderson is on course to fulfill a childhood dream - after getting the green light to make a big-screen version of Roald Dahl classic, Fantastic Mr. Fox. The Royal Tenenbaums movie maker was desperate to adapt the 1970s children's tale, and after a lengthy battle, has finally begun work on the animated movie in London.
He says, "It was one of my favorite books as a child. I have been trying to make this film for eight years. There's a whole new bit at the start and a new section at the end. But we've tried to do something that Roald Dahl would love."
Amanda Conquy, who runs Dahl's estate, insists she and the writer's wife Felicity believe Anderson is the perfect choice to direct the animated adaptation.
She says, "Whatever Wes does is interesting and has a definite point of view. He understands the humor of Dahl and the sweetness and slight anarchic nature of this story."
George Clooney has signed up to provide the voice of Mr. Fox in the film.
