MobyDance music star Moby is offering independent filmmakers the opportunity to use his music for free in their movies. The Porcelain singer, a one-time film student, has placed music on website MobyGratis.com for independent, non-profit and student moviemakers to use for soundtracks of their works.

He says, "The biggest complaint I hear from my friends who are indie filmmakers is that they can't get calls returned from record companies or that licensing quotes are outlandish. Whenever I tell anyone about this (offer), people keep expecting a catch. There isn't one. I structured it so that it's impossible for me to make any money from it."

Moby recently scored Donnie Darko director Richard Kelly's new movie Southland Tales, which is due for release in the on November 14.
