Country star John Michael Montgomery has launched his own record label and will release his next album as the company's first. Montgomery will serve as chief executive officer of Stringtown Records.

The news ends the singer/songwriter's long career at Atlantic Records, where he enjoyed seven number one country singles in America and huge hits like I Love The Way You Love Me and The Little Girl.

According to country website CMT.com, the new label is expected to sign other artists after the release of Montgomery's new album.
