lawyers have dismissed reports the illusionist canceled his overseas tour as a result of ongoing sexual assault investigations. The magician has been accused of the alleged rape of a Seattle, Washington woman in the Bahamas.
However, Copperfield's representatives are adamant their client is innocent of all the allegations against him and on Thursday denied the investigation was the reason for pulling his tour of the Middle East and Asia. A statement from his attorney David Chesnoff insists Copperfield was forced to cancel the December dates because promoters did not fulfill their contractual commitments.
He tells TMZ.
com, "David Copperfield canceled his overseas tour because promoters did not honor their contractual commitments, including failing to make a contractual payment of more than $1 million and canceling a segment of the tour without Mr. Copperfield's consent. The cancellations had nothing to do with the investigation into allegations by an unidentified woman."
