Nick Carter Says Backstreet Boys Were Never A 'Boy Band'
The band shot to fame in the 1990s with their self-titled first album and have sold over 75 million records worldwide - but Carter is admant they didn't take their musical cues from groups like British five piece Take That.
Carter says, "We were never a boy band. We always thought of ourselves as a white vocal harmony group, we didn't model ourselves on Take That or anything. Maybe things started off a little boy band-ish but after a while you shed that."
