The kids enter the Fire Nation with the goal of covertly moving from island to island to the Royal Palace, where they will eventually confront and defeat the Firelord. After spending several weeks unconscious, Aang wakes up to the news that Ba Sing Se has fallen. Sokka and the kids tell Aang about the latest plan to defeat the Firelord, but Aang believes the only way to redeem himself is alone.
This episode ties up the loose ends from the end of Book 2 Earth. By the end the kids enter the Fire Nation, with the goal of covertly making their way through, moving island to island to the Royal Palace and eventually confronting and defeating the Firelord.Chapter 2
The kids go undercover to learn how to blend in with the Fire Nation citizens. Aang enrolls in a Fire Nation School, while Sokka and Katara must pose as his parents.
Since Aang's survival (and continuing existence!) is a secret, the kids' plan to travel across the Fire Nation is to do it as stealthily as possible therefore this mission about learning to blend in is essential. For Aang, now with hair and a headband covering his arrow tattoo, this episode is his first chance to be a "normal kid" since he found out he was the Avatar.Chapter 3
In order to help a Fire Nation town and still hide her identity, Katara takes on a new persona as the spirit of the painted lady.
When the kids come across a poor Fire Nation town, Katara wants to help the people. Unfortunately for Katara, the group decides that they can't help every individual town. They say that when they take out the Fire Lord, they will help all the towns. But when the kids have a hard time leaving, Katara takes this opportunity to secretly do some good.Chapter 4
A Sokka-centric story in which Sokka finds an aged Fire Nation warrior who becomes his master and teaches him the way of the sword.
Sokka deals with his feelings of inferiority about not being a bender in this classic Master/Student story. Through the course of the episode, he must prove himself worthy, struggle with mysterious training methods, and eventually face his master in combat.Chapter 5
Zuko, Azula, Mai and Ty Lee spend a weekend at their Emerald Island beach house. In this peaceful setting, they end up learning about themselves and their desires for the future.
