Troubled singer Whitney Houston amazed fans by making a public comeback at the Swarovski Fashion Rocks event in London on Thursday. The 44-year-old appeared on stage in a white Valentino dress at the Royal Albert Hall gig, introducing a performance by British girl group Sugababes and soul veteran Patti LaBelle.

Houston - who had flown in from New York but had been 'hidden' in a hotel in the British capital - looked glamorous and healthy at the event, prompting speculation she has fully overcome her well-documented battle with drug addiction.

An event-goer tells British newspaper the Daily Mirror, "Everyone in the audience was amazed - even the big stars like Kate Moss, Lily Allen and Naomi Campbell started whooping with delight. It was all anyone could talk about the rest of the night. It was just such a well-kept secret; no-one had an inkling she was going to be there."
