Teenage pop star Belinda scooped two awards at the MTV Video Music Awards Latin America on Thursday. The 18-year-old picked up the award for Video of the Year (for Bella Traicion) and Best Solo Artist at a ceremony in Mexico City.

Avril Lavigne practiced her Spanish when receiving the trophy for Song Of The Year for her track Girlfriend.

Mexican rock band Mana won the award for Best Group Or Duo and Artist Of The Year.

The awards were handed out by Mexican movie star Diego Luna.

The winners were as follows:
Song Of The Year - Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne
Video Of The Year - Belinda
Artist of the Year - Mana
Best Solo Artist - Belinda
Best Group - Mana
Best Pop Artist - Julieta Venegas.
