Actress Carol Bruce Is Dead At 87
Actress/singer Carol Bruce, who played Mama Carlson in hit 1980s sitcom WKRP In Cincinnati, has died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at the Motion Picture & Television Country House in Woodland Hills, California. She was 87.
Bruce, born Shirley Levy in New York, began her professional career at the age of 18 when she was first booked to perform at a nightclub in Montreal, Canada. She later changed her name to Carol Bruce for her Broadway debut in 1940.
She made three films in the early 1940s, This Woman Is Mine, Keep 'Em Flying and Behind The Eight Ball.
