John Cusack's new action movie has been pulled due to lack of funds. The Grosse Pointe Blank star, more used to starring in romantic comedies, was set to play a movie tough guy in Stopping Power - which was to be directed by Jan De Bont.
However the project, originally due for release next year, has now been scrapped. Cusack, 41, would have played a test pilot who embarks on a high-speed car chase to save his kidnapped daughter.
Production company International media has declined to say which of the film's financiers has pulled out, indicating that it would pursue legal recourse. A separate production subsidiary set up for the film, IM Stopping Power, has filed for insolvency as a result, reports Variety magazine.
