Michael DouglasMichael Douglas has no plans to follow in the footsteps of actors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronald Reagan by running for public office.

The actor, 62, who was named a United Nations Messenger of Peace in 1998, admits he has no desire to become involved in local government.

He adds "I'm so in awe and have such respect for publicly-elected officials. I enjoy the diplomacy part of it rather than being a public servant. I enjoy lobbying on the issues that mean a lot to me."
