Samuel L. Jackson Says 'Black Snake Moan' Was Promoted Badly
The star is thrilled that the project, which also starred Christina Ricci and Justin Timberlake, is finding a new audience on DVD - because the cinema release was a flop.
And Jackson, who played a blues man in the movie, is convinced the film was pitched wrong when it came out last year.
He says, "The movie didn't make a lot of money but people discovered it on DVD and found out that it's not really a movie about me making Christina Ricci my slave. They (studio bosses) sort of made it look like she was my little sex slave; she had a little torn shirt on and a big chain... It didn't quite work out as well as we wanted it to."
And though the film didn't win any accolades, Jackson is hoping to land a Grammy Award for the six tunes he performed on the film's soundtrack.
