Disney's new rodent movie Ratatouille is a record-breaking hit in France, where the film is set.

The film, about a talking rat who has ambitions to become a great chef, has made $16 million in its first week on release in France to score the country's highest debut for an animated feature.

The previous record was held by Finding Nemo in 2003.
