Spice Girl Melanie Brown has slammed reports her recent lunch date with Eddie Murphy's ex was set up for the benefit of the paparazzi. The singer, who is currently embroiled in a bitter paternity suit with the Daddy Day Care star, met up with Nicole Mitchell earlier this month at Beverly Hills eaterie The Ivy.

Pictures of the date, involving the pair's daughters with Murphy Bella Zahra and Angel Iris, were splashed over tabloids across the globe - but Brown denies it was a publicity stunt.

She tells U.S. talk show host Larry King, "My whole thing is that I want Angel to know her brothers and sisters. And that's important to me and it's important to Nicole. And she's a great woman, by the way. She's lovely."
