Anthony HopkinsAnthony Hopkins will unveil a statue of late comedian Tommy Cooper in his home town of Caerphilly, Wales later this year. The veteran movie star is patron of the Tommy Cooper Society - which raised $80,000 to pay for the bronze effigy of the deceased television star.

Tudor Jones, secretary of the Tommy Cooper Society, explains, "He said he would be honoured and happy to come and unveil the statue... We're absolutely thrilled to bits."

Cooper died of a heart attack after collapsing onstage at the London Palladium theatre in April 1984.
