Lindsay Lohan’s mother Dina had something to smile about on Friday in the middle of her daughter's new legal battle - she won a child support battle with her estranged husband, the actress' father Michael.

Dina Lohan was forced to leave her embattled daughter in a "safe" place as she headed off to New York for a continuation of her divorce and custody battle with Michael, who was recently released from jail. In court, Dina was awarded $500-a-month in support.

Outside court, the estranged couple was besieged by press - and neither celebrated, although Dina felt the judge had "done the right thing" in awarding her the payment.

She added, "I just want to get this over with."
