The Notebook star Joan Allen is the latest celebrity to leap to the defense of troubled star Lindsay Lohan, insisting she "feels her pain". The 50-year-old doesn't underestimate the severity of the Driving Under The Influence charges leveled against Lohan following her arrest on Tuesday.

However pleads for fans to recognize the problems and pressures the Mean Girls star is dealing with before judging her too harshly. She says, "I feel very bad for her because I think she obviously has a lot of problems, and maybe is in a lot of pain. It's serious. I try and put myself in her position, and I would just feel so bad being scrutinized to the degree that she is."

"I just hope the best for her, because I think she's so talented and I feel she'll overcome this. I just wish she could do it more privately."
