Elton JohnA generous fan of British singer Elton John paid $220,000 on Thursday to be serenaded by the star. The star-studded karaoke benefit in London saw the Rocket Man cover Elvis Presley classic Are You Lonesome Tonight? in aid of the Hoping Foundation, a charity which supports children in Palestine.

One lucky bidder paid $140,000 to duet with rocker Nick Cave on Destiny's Child's Bootylicious, while Bryan Adams' performance of Status Quo's Rocking All Over The World went for $60,000.

Other stars who took to the stage in aid of the charity included The Clash star Mick Jones, former Pretenders frontwoman Chrissie Hynde and Lulu.
