Jamie Foxx refused to let Gladys Knight watch his stand-up show because he didn't want the legendary singer to be shocked by his rude behavior. Knight played the star's mother in several episodes of TV series "The Jamie Foxx" show and was keen to see her on-screen offspring perform his comedy routine to a live audience.

Foxx refused on the grounds of taste and decency - and Knight admits she's still overwhelmed by the actor's good manners.

She says, "I was in Atlanta one time and I'd never seen his stand up show and he was at the Civic Centre. I called him up to say Hi. So he was talking, 'Mom! How ya doin'?' I said, Jamie, I think I'll come down to see your show. He said, 'Mom, you can't come.' I said, Why not? I'm free tonight. He said, 'Mom, you can't come to see me. My stand-up show is...kinda blue.' He had so much respect for me he couldn't do his show in front of me. I'd never even heard him curse."
