Salsa singer Tito Gomez has died of a heart attack in Colombia. He was 59. The Puerto Rican star started suffering from pains at his hotel in Cali on Monday and died in a hospital on Tuesday. Singer Ruben Blades, who worked with Gomez, says, "Tito always worked with a lot of spirit. He was a good colleague, and his sense of humour always helped make our professional tasks a little less difficult."

During Gomez's four decade-long musical career, he played with Latin stars Ray Barretto and Blade and the band Grupo Niche.
