Former Pulp star Jarvis Cocker's recent reunion with his father after 30 years was not a happy one. The Common People hit maker hadn't seen his father since he was seven years old, but managed to trace him to Australia. He flew out to see Mack with his sister Saskia, but admits it was not a joyful reunion.

He explains, "If this happened in EastEnders (British soap opera) we'd all have been in floods of tears and declaring how much we loved each other. But though we're biologically related it was like meeting someone I didn't know. We didn't have a parent child relationship. I had built up a picture of the sort of man I thought he would be and then I faced the reality. It was difficult."
