BBC TV children's show Teletubbies is under investigation in Poland after officials claimed the series endorses homosexuality. The program, which features four colored oversized Teletubbies, has been criticized by children's rights groups over male character Tinky Winky for his purse-carrying ways.
Activists in the country, which is campaigning to ban the promotion of homosexuality, believe Tinky Winky's 'effeminate' ways should not be broadcast - and are calling for a psychological analysis into whether the character is 'too gay' for Polish TV.
Ewa Sowinska, a spokesperson for children's rights, says, "I noticed he (Tinky Winky) was carrying a woman's handbag. At first, I didn't realize he was a boy."
