Michael Ausiello reports exclusively that Gilmore Girls
creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has expressed interest in pursuing a two-hour Gilmore Girls TV movie that ties up all the loose threads.
"She said what?" gasped Scott Patterson
, who played Luke Danes, the on-again/off-again love interest of Lorelei Gilmore, when Ausiello relayed the information to him over the phone. "I didn't think she would be interested in doing something like that. But if she says she is, I would seriously consider it."
"Gilmore Girls" star Lauren Graham
, who played Sherman-Palladino’s alter-ego Lorelei Gilmore for the past seven seasons, told Ausiello it “could be a fun idea if everyone wanted to do it. I would do it just to get the four final words out of Amy. They torture me.”
Graham’s cryptic reference is to the final four words of the "Gilmore Girls" series. Since Sherman-Palladino and her husband/partner Dan left the CW last year when contract negotiations soured, she did not write the final script of the season or series. Cast and fans alike will always wonder how the show’s creator would have concluded the series. Sherman-Palladino said it would have ended with one of her characters uttering four words. To this day, she has not revealed them.
Co-star Alexis Bledel
(who played Lorelei’s daughter, Rory Gilmore) was equally as stunned by the possibility of a TV movie. "A Gilmore Girls reunion?" she said with a laugh. "That’s certainly not something I had thought of doing. That’s really funny, I have no idea how I would feel in a few years. I don’t know, I’m sure the script Amy would write would be great, but I guess I’d have to read it and see how I felt at the time."
