Mike TysonMoviemaker James Toback is to turn boxer Mike Tyson's life story into a heavy hitting new documentary after spending over 30 hours filming the fighter's comments and anecdotes. The When Will I Be Loved director's interview footage will be edited down into a film, called simply Tyson, which will trace the boxer's self-destruction.

Toback admits he felt compelled to make the film after being fascinated by the fighter for years. He says he has been a friend to the boxer ever since their first meeting in 1985, when Tyson was just 19.

The director tells trade paper Daily Variety, "The point (of the film) is not to polish his (Tyson) image or make a cinematic apology, but rather to get a firsthand look at a very complex and epic story."
