DeVotchKa Summer Shows Announced; Band Writing For Winter Release
Between records DeVotchKa multi-instrumentalist Tom Hagerman created 'The Breakfast Playground' a solo work of haunting instrumental pieces on which Hagerman provides, violin, accordion, piano, toy piano, and all other instrumentation. DeVotchKa's Jeanie Schroder contributes tuba on two tracks. The record is a limited release on DeVotchKa's Cicero Records and is available at the DeVotchKa website (www.devotchka.net).
Since the 2004 self-release of the slow building and acclaimed How It Ends record, DeVotchKa wrote and recorded the score for the Academy Award winning film Little Miss Sunshine. Their work earned the band a Grammy nomination for Best Soundtrack. The group also released the all covers EP 'Curse Your Little Heart' in 2006 (Ace Fu). The band expects a winter release with a to-be-announced label partner for the highly anticipated full-length follow up to 'How it ends.'
