Former Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel star David Boreanaz is set to bring comic book hero The Sub-Mariner to life on the big screen, according to internet reports. The actor recently auditioned for the lead role in the comic book adaptation, according to website SuperheroHype.com.

The Sub-Mariner, which will follow the adventures of a temperamental mer-man, will be directed by U-571's Jonathan Mostow.
