Brittany Murphy has confirmed reports she is a married woman after tying the knot with British screenwriter Simon Monjack in Los Angeles last month. The 29-year-old actress's nuptials come nine months after she ended her engagement to best-boy grip Joe Macaluso, who she met on the set of Little Black Book.

The Sin City star's representative tells People Magazine, "They were married at their home in Los Angeles several weeks ago in a very intimate ceremony. It was officiated by a rabbi and they were surrounded by their families."

Wedding reports started over the weekend at the Kentucky Derby, where the couple was spotted wearing wedding rings.

A joint statement from the newlyweds reads, "This was our first trip as a married couple. We came to the Kentucky Derby and had a wonderful time." Murphy is set to star in her husband's forthcoming movie The White Hotel, which he is both writing and directing.
