Marcia Cross Launches Skin Cancer Month Crusade

Fair-skinned actress Marcia Cross has joined forces with the American Society For Dermatological Surgery to help protect people from the sun. The redhead has spent her life covering up and wearing sunscreen and now she's keen to pass on her tips to others as part of a Skin Cancer Awareness Month campaign. And she's urging everyone to take advantage of a free check-up initiative throughout the US in May.
She says, "You want to catch skin cancer early. If you do, it's 100 per cent curable." Cross risks ridicule every time she hits the beach because she insists on wearing unflattering wide-brimmed hats and always covers up, but she says she'll never adopt a sexier look - and risk cancer.
She adds, "I live in a hat and sunglasses and I'm always covered in sunscreen, which seems like a no-brainer but a lot of people still don't do it, and I'm just a walking example of that. People say, 'Is it because you're incognito?' And I say, 'No, I would look like this even if I wasn't an actress.'"
