Fans of Nicole Richie have been left disappointed after the star ignored them when she arrived in Australia on Saturday. The Simple Life star flew in to Sydney to attend the MTV Australia Video Music Awards on Sunday, and was greeted by fans who were desperate to see their idol. However she was kept at arms length from her adoring public by her security team.

Fans were unable to get autographs from the star and one claimed, "We haven't slept in two days. It's pretty heartbreaking."

However Richie dismissed allegations she was rude, explaining, "You know what, I had just woken up so it was definitely a rush but, you know, we got through it."
