Sean ConnerySean Connery has lent his support to win back a renowned literary archive for the National Library of Scotland. Connery joins crime writer Ian Rankin in the fight for the John Murray Archive, which contains manuscripts and letters from Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, Lord Byron and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

The Murray family agreed to sell the collection to the national library for a discounted price of $64 million in order for the public to enjoy the works, however another $9.75 million is needed to secure the historic archive.

The 76-year-old actor says, "I commend the National Library of Scotland for the vision and commitment to bring this treasure to Scotland and wish them every success. There will be something for everyone, from five-year-olds to academics."
