U.S. political heavyweight Karl Rove just wanted to relax and refrain from discussing politics when he was lambasted by Sheryl Crowe at a White House dinner. The campaigning singer approached President George W. Bush's chief of staff at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner in Washington D.C. on Saturday and wanted to discuss what the government was planning to do about climate change.
The New York Daily News reported this week that Crow grabbed Rove's arm, before he angrily responded, "Don't touch me."
Crow reportedly replied, "You can't speak to us like that, you work for us." Rove is then said to have retorted, "I don't work for you, I work for the American people."
A statement from the White House says, "I think Karl Rove just wanted to have some fun on Saturday night. And I think he wasn't the only one...
"The president's record on climate change is very strong."
Crow has just finished a tour of colleges promoting environmental awareness with Laurie David.
