Outspoken American Idol judge Simon Cowell was left speechless during a January visit to Nairobi, Kenya because he couldn't believe the extent of the poverty in the region. Cowell was in the African nation with Ryan Seacrest during the filming of charity special Idol Gives Back when the desperate circumstances forced him to reflect for a moment.

Seacrest says, "The first day, we rode to a slum, and it was worse than anything I had imagined - the ground is moist with sewage, people are so sick. At one point, Simon just had this look on his face like he was going to be sick, and he said, 'I've just got to sit down somewhere. I just can't see anymore right now.'"
