Sheryl Crow Sheryl Crow was literally at one with the universe during a magical moment in New York last year when she took time out of her hectic schedule to hug a tree. The Steve McQueen singer felt compelled to tell the earth she lived it after a friend told her of a moment when all eco warriors were planning to state their intentions to the universe.

Crow, a self-confessed "woo-woo meditator," tells Elle magazine, "I was in New York and a friend, a brilliant spiritual guy, said, 'Well, if you can just sit down on the earth...' and I was like, 'I'm in New York.' He said, 'OK, go stand next to a tree.' So my manager and I came out of a meeting and literally held onto a tree... I was like, 'I have so many opportunities now; where can I be most effective?'"

Crow has since teamed up with environmentalist Laurie David to discuss global warming issues at colleges.
