Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has defended the portrayal of extreme violence in his films, following criticism by British politicians. Earlier in the week Mayor of London Ken Livingstone blamed violence in films as a cause of a violent society, and Tarantino's films were the center of debate in 1998, when a young man was murdered in Liverpool, in a way that was similar to a scene from Tarantino's film Reservoir Dogs.

Tarantino says, "I don't think graphic sex or graphic violence are harmful when it comes to movies. When it comes to children, that's not my business. It's up to the parent to show them or not. What if kids get it on their own? That's part of being a kid, looking at what your not supposed to look at, having that excitement of seeing the forbidden fruit."
