Hollywood star Tom Cruise paid a gushing tribute to his wife Katie Holmes at a charity event in Los Angeles last week. The Top Gun star was honored for his achievement in "working for positive change in the world" at a gala organized by Mentor LA on Thursday.

Speaking in front of an audience which included Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Stevie Wonder and Orlando Bloom, Cruise said, "I was someone who was pretty much raised by a single mother and three sisters and so my first mentor was actually my mother.

"I want to thank my wife also. Katie, I love you so much. Thank you for making this such a special night."
