Rocker Gerard Way has laughed off suggestions his band My Chemical Romance is in the business for "chicks, drugs and money". The singer, who suffered from alcohol and painkiller dependency for many years, insists the group has a strong work ethic.

The 30-year-old front man says, "It's never been about that for this band. It's about doing the right thing. For better or worse, this band was born from a very hard emotional place. We were never a normal band wanting lots of chicks, drugs and money. In a band like this you work hard and you suffer, but the rewards are much greater."
