Scots rockers Franz Ferdinand are snubbing festivals this summer because they've got no new material to play. The Take Me Out stars normally travel their native Britain and Europe every summer performing at a string of festivals, but have decided they don't want to repeat their sets from previous years.

Frontman Alex Kapranos says, "We're going to play Bonnaroo (Tennessee), but not any British festivals. We don't want to play any until we've written a bunch of new songs. I don't really see the point of keeping on going out and playing the same old stuff again and again. You want to come back with something exciting."
