Helen Mirren Doesn't Want The Respect of Younger Actors
Helen Mirren is struggling to cope with her new-found superstardom because she's not ready to be a role model for younger actors. The BAFTA-winning actress is hot favorite to pick up an Academy Award this Sunday for playing British monarch Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen.
But although she welcomes her recent spate of industry awards, she's not so enthusiastic about the pedestal she's been placed upon since her wins.
Mirren says, "I hate being respected. It makes me feel so uncomfortable. When younger actors come up and they say they respect you, you want to go, 'Don't respect me. I don't want your respect.'"
