Counting Crows lead singer Adam Duritz has started his own record label. The 42-year-old rocker had no plans to set up his own company until he came across two artists on social networking website MySpace that he wanted to sign.

Duritz discovered Chicago, Illinois-based punk-pop band Blacktop Mourning and a New York City rapper known as Notar and decided to start his own label.

He explains, "The talent of Notar and Blacktop Mourning just blew me away and I wanted to be a part of their evolution."

Duritz is calling his "intimate boutique label" Tyrannosaurus Records and has scheduled an autumn release for a CD from Notar. The singer also performs on four tracks of the Blacktop Mourning CD, No Regrets, which is scheduled to be released in May.
