The bizarre accent Joss Stone displayed at Wednesday's Brit Awards was the result of nerves, according to her publicist.

The British pop star stunned the audience at the London music ceremony when she spoke in a strong American accent.

However, Stone's publicist claims the 19-year-old only speaks in the put on accent when she is nervous.

He says, "She's lived in America since she was 15 but her accent becomes stronger when she's nervous."
