Sandra Bullock's husband and Monster Garage host and co-producer Jesse James has been fined $271,250 for violating California's clean-air rules.

The fine was imposed by the California Air Resources Board, which alleges 50 of James' custom-built chopper bikes violated rules by not having state certified emissions equipment on their exhaust systems.

As a result the bikes sold between 1998 and 2005, were giving off hydrocarbons at up to 10 times the state limits, said Paul Jacobs, chief of the board's Mobile Sources Enforcement branch.

James, who also hosts and co-produces Motorcycle Mania, was not available for comment.
