Nicole Kidman has cut short a New Year vacation to Australia after complaining of paparazzi harassment there. The actress and husband Keith Urban flew back to Los Angeles yesterday just days after arriving in Sydney.

Kidman called upon the local police to protect the pair from the prying eyes of photographers - after an angry clash with a freelance snapper on the way to their holiday home in the city. But the pair was forced to relocate to Kidman's sister's home in Sydney after photographers kept siege outside the luxury pad.

In the end the couple gave up and jetted back to their California home, after seeing in the New Year down under.
