NFL player Tony Romo has permanently put rumors he is secretly dating Jessica Simpson to rest by confirming he is actually dating country star Carrie Underwood. Romo, who plays for the Dallas Cowboys had been romantically linked with Simpson, but Romo and Underwood made their first appearance as a couple on Christmas day.

The former American Idol winner surprised sportsgoers with her appearance at the Texas Stadium, where she was seen hugging Romo on the field before his game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Romo confirmed the two were dating to the Journal Gazette/Times-Courier, a small-town paper in Charleston, Illinois, where he played college football.

Sports editor Brian Nielsen says, "After I asked him all my usual football questions, I said, 'My wife really wants to know if the Jessica Simpson dating rumors are true.' He laughed and replied, 'No. Tell her I'm dating Carrie Underwood.'"
