among other Disney Channel stars host Disney Channel's New Year Sing-along Bowl-athon and 9th Annual New Year's Eve Viewer's Choice, where viewers determine the programming lineup, Sunday, December 31 (7:00 p.m. – 12:30 a.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. During the evening, the stars will reveal the winning episodes and compete in a bowl-athon and lip-sync contest to songs from "The Cheetah Girls 2
" and "High School Musical
" as well as the new song "Push It to the Limit" from upcoming movie "Jump In!"
Polls are now open at DisneyChannel.com/NewYear, where voters can select their favorite episodes of 2006. Last year, an all-time high of 41.9 million votes were tabulated online at DisneyChannel.com, which features a variety of engaging games and activities and is the #1 entertainment website for kids ages 6-14.
Now through December 30, viewers can vote online in 10 different categories based on Disney Channel series' episodes and characters. The DisneyChannel.com/NewYear website will be hosted by "Hannah Montana
's" Jason Earles and for the first-time ever for this event, features interactive video of Jason inside the site. Among the categories are "Favorite Wildcat Walk-on," "Happiest Birthday Blow-out," "Brother Like No Other" and "Worst Words of Wisdom." A bonus 11th category determines which all-new episode of hit series "Hannah Montana" will be presented at the stroke of midnight, 2007.
Before selecting one of the choices in each category, video clips from the nominated episodes will be available to watch. As viewers vote in each category, they will receive free items to download including a "Hannah Montana" 2007 calendar, a New Year Sing-along Bowl-athon door hang and desktop pattern. From December 29 through 31, viewers can download the song lyrics only at DisneyChannel.com/NewYear to sing-along during the lip-sync contest.
On the first day of 2007, Disney Channel showcases "Hannah Montana" in an all day marathon (12:00 noon – 12:00 midnight, ET/PT). The live-action original series is basic cable's #1 series of 2006 among Kids 6-11 (1.24 million/5.1 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.12 million/4.6 rating), and one of TV's top-rated series overall (broadcast and basic cable), behind only Fox's "American Idol
