David Gilmour To Release Syd Barrett Tribute
Pink Floyd rocker David Gilmour is to release a reworking of the group's first ever single Arnold Layne in memory of former band member Syd Barrett. Barrett, who left the band in March 1968, died in July at the age of 60 from pancreatic cancer.
Gilmour, who joined the psychedelic rockers just before Barrett left, has recorded two versions of Arnold Layne and Barrett's solo track Dark Globe, in Barrett's honour.
The versions of Arnold Layne feature the vocals of David Bowie and Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright.
The song will be available for download from Christmas Day.
