Naomi CampbellNaomi Campbell is desperate to avoid being forced to sweep the streets of New York City as a community service sentence for allegedly throwing a mobile phone at her former maid. The supermodel's lawyer David Breitbart is currently attempting to resolve the assault charge hanging over Campbell with a plea bargain following claims from ex-aide Ana Scolavino.

Community service is a likely outcome, but Campbell is determined not to carry out a similar sentence to Boy George, who spent a week cleaning Manhattan's streets amid a media scrum earlier this year after being found guilty of wasting police time. She is thought to be keen on carrying out fundraising for AIDS research instead.

Breitbart, who represented Campbell at Manhattan Criminal Court yesterday, said at the end of the hearing he was considering a plea offer: "If there's something palatable, we'll talk about it."
