'Borat' Reigns Again; 'A Good Year' & Other New Releases Disappoint

BoratBorat: Cultural Learning Of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan took in $29 million at the U.S. box office this weekend to hold on to the top spot for the second week in a row. The bumper weekend raised its 10-day total to $67.8 million.

The top three movies remained unchanged from the previous weekend, with The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause still in second place with $16.9 million and animated tale Flushed Away in third with $16.7 million.

Stranger Than Fiction debuted as the best of the weekend's new releases, placing fourth with $14.1 million. A Good Year, a romantic comedy which reunited Russell Crowe with director Ridley Scott flopped, coming in tenth with $3.8 million. Sarah Michelle Gellar's supernatural thriller The Return opened weakly with $4.8 million to take the number eight spot.

Harsh Times, a gritty street drama starring Christian Bale and Freddy Rodriguez, also had a poor debut of $1.8 million, finishing out of the top 10.
