Angelina JolieCrusading actress Angelina Jolie has taken time out of filming her latest movie in India to meet refugees from Afghanistan and Burma, branding the experience "remarkable." The star, who is a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Refugee Agency, visited a camp for displaced people in New Delhi during the weekend, accompanied by her young son Maddox.

She was also involved in discussions with India's Junior Foreign Minister Anand Sharma on the nation's refugee policy. In a statement Jolie said, "I am grateful to the refugee families who spent time with me and shared their stories. They are remarkable, courageous people.

"The wonderful thing that I have learned since I have been in India is there are many needs for your own people and yet you have all been so gracious and been so open to many, many refugees over the years.

Sharma added, "We discussed the Indian tradition and Mahatma Gandhi's principles of peace and non-violence, which continue to be very much relevant even today."

Jolie is currently filming A Mighty Heart, based on the life of Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal reporter who was killed at the hands of militants in Pakistan in 2002.
